The Hardest Part of Losing You

The Hardest Part of Losing You

I guess I’ve grown tired of waiting around
Wondering if you’re coming home
Lately it seems I spend most of my time
Sitting in this house all alone

Sometimes I lie in bed and think about
How much you used to love me
Now when you’re home it’s easy to see
There’s someplace you’d rather be

Chorus:
The hardest part of losing you
Are the times that I blame myself
For doing whatever I did
That made you long for something else
But when it comes right down to it
I know there ain’t a thing I can do
So I’ll just have to learn to live with
The hardest part of losing you

I can still see the mark on your finger
Right where your ring used to be
The things you used to think were so precious
Are now just tokens of misery

I remember the day we got married
Just a few short years ago
Didn’t you promise till death do we part
I guess that was just a joke

Chorus:
The hardest part of losing you
Are the times that I blame myself
For doing whatever I did
That made you long for something else
But when it comes right down to it
I know there ain’t a thing I can do
So I’ll just have to learn to live with
The hardest part of losing you

Maybe if I had done things differently
Everything would be OK
And you would be happy to be with me
Instead of running away

Chorus:
The hardest part of losing you
Are the times that I blame myself
For doing whatever I did
That made you long for something else
But when it comes right down to it
I know there ain’t a thing I can do
So I’ll just have to learn to live with
The hardest part of losing you

Guess I’ll just have to learn to live with
The hardest part of losing you

The Frozen End

The Frozen End

I wonder if she remembers when
We drank pina coladas every holiday
Sometimes that seems like so long ago
Sometimes it seems like yesterday

We held hands underneath the table
While we played penny ante poker with our friends
I thought those days would last forever
I thought those days would never end

Chorus:
I can’t recall
The way I felt back then
Before she chilled my heart
And gave it back again
The world can be a cold place
When you’re on the frozen end

I remember that last cold Christmas
I thought I’d drive up and surprise her one weekend
She came to the door, tears in her eyes
Behind her was her new boyfriend

Chorus:
I can’t recall
The way I felt back then
Before she chilled my heart
And gave it back again
The world can be a cold place
When you’re on the frozen end

Bridge:
I saw her in the paper all pretty and warm
While I’m stuck out here in the cold
Trying to forget the way that I felt
On that December day at her door in the snow

The Fool Who Let Her Go

The Fool Who Let Her Go

You think you’re one lucky dude
I used to be luckier than you
But good fortune is a fickle friend
Though your sun is shining now
You must always remember how
What goes up always goes down again

Chorus:
Lady luck was my companion
Until the day I set her free
Just because she didn’t come back
Don’t mean it wasn’t meant to be
I’ve never been good at staying
I’ve always been quick to the road
I was the only one she wanted
Now I’m just the fool who let her go

You think you’ve got what I want
I’m not going to tell you that you don’t
But I’ve walked that winding road you’re on
And though those were such good times
I couldn’t stay between the lines
I strayed too far and ended up alone

Chorus:
Lady luck was my companion
Until the day I set her free
Just because she didn’t come back
Don’t mean it wasn’t meant to be
I’ve never been good at staying
I’ve always been quick to the road
I was the only one she wanted
Now I’m just the fool who let her go

So don’t worry about me
Because I’m just an old memory
One I’m sure she barely can recall
But once you’ve fallen in love
It’s a hard thing to fall out of
I wonder if she thinks of me at all

Chorus:
Lady luck was my companion
Until the day I set her free
Just because she didn’t come back
Don’t mean it wasn’t meant to be
I’ve never been good at staying
I’ve always been quick to the road
I was the only one she wanted
Now I’m just the fool who let her go

The Crossing

The Crossing

We lay down by the trestle bridge
That crosses Thompson’s Creek
I put a nickel on the track
As a tear ran down her cheek

Next thing I knew she was with child
I tried to walk the line
But that line was made for crossing
And I crossed it many times

Chorus:
She named her daughter River
Cause she washed away our sins
Sometimes the very place it starts
Is the very place it ends

I worked the boats at Folly Beach
Where all the tourists drown
One night I stole a Camaro
Knocked some parking meters down

I was hoping for probation
It was my first offense
But the judge threw the book at me
When he saw them from the bench

Chorus:
She named her daughter River
Cause she washed away our sins
Sometimes the very place it starts
Is the very place it ends

He sent me to the state prison
Up here on Hard Luck Ridge
And from the window in my cell
I can see that trestle bridge

Chorus:
She named her daughter River
Cause she washed away our sins
Sometimes the very place it starts
Is the very place it ends

Texas River Girls

Texas River Girls

We were young and up to no good
We’d park our cars out in the woods
And drink beer in the moonlight
One night some river girls pulled up
In their daddy’s old pickup truck
It must’ve been our lucky night

Cause city girls didn’t like us
So they didn’t come round too much
They wouldn’t give us the time
But a good time was had by all
When the river girls came to call
The river girls liked us fine

Chorus:
There’s nothing as good in this ol’ world
As a Texas moon and a river girl
Born of the sacred waters
The Brazos and the Trinity’s daughters
The Pecos and Pedernales’ pearls
Those Texas river girls

I got older and moved away
But I still miss those wilder days
Hanging out with all my friends
And sure as the San Marcos flows
I know that one day we’ll all go
Back to the river again

Bridge:
Let me tell you this my son
You ain’t never had no fun
Till you’ve floated down the Guadalupe
With a river girl and an inner tube

Chorus:
There’s nothing as good in this ol’ world
As a Texas moon and a river girl
Born of the sacred waters
The Brazos and the Trinity’s daughters
The Pecos and Pedernales’ pearls
Those Texas river girls

Tennis Dress

Tennis Dress

I remember the first time I saw you playing
I asked if you were winning, you just grinned
I thought there’s a game I could really get into
Your wheels of fortune made my whole world spin

Chorus:
Honey put that tennis dress on
And come play with me
I remember the first time
That I saw you swing
Believe me when I tell you
You know I wouldn’t lie
When you wear that tennis dress
It really drives me wild

I love to watch you out there sweating and panting
When it comes to this game, you are the best
My friends say I should stay away from girls like you
They haven’t seen you in that tennis dress

Chorus:
Honey put that tennis dress on
And come play with me
I remember the first time
That I saw you swing
Believe me when I tell you
You know I wouldn’t lie
When you wear that tennis dress
It really drives me wild

Bridge:
It’s short and white
With a lot of lace
Baby I’m you tennis ball
So come on and swing away

Chorus:
Honey put that tennis dress on
And come play with me
I remember the first time
That I saw you swing
Believe me when I tell you
You know I wouldn’t lie
When you wear that tennis dress
It really drives me wild

So All Alone

So All Alone

You know I feel in love with you
The very first time we met
I keep hoping you’ll treat me right
But it ain’t happened yet

These days you like to spend your time
With anyone else but me
And although I have begged you to
You still won’t set me free

Chorus:
How can you still be here
But seem like you’re so far gone
How can I be so close to you
And feel so all alone

I saw you out the other night
So I followed you around
Seems like you know every bartender
At every honky tonk in town

I tried to to tell you how it feels
To be cast aside this way
But when we talk it seems like
You’re a million miles away

Chorus:
How can you still be here
But seem like you’re so far gone
How can I be so close to you
And feel so all alone

Bridge:
So go get lost in all your thoughts
Of where you’d rather be
I don’t know if it’s you I miss
Or just the company

Chorus:
How can you still be here
But seem like you’re so far gone
How can I be so close to you
And feel so all alone

Sippie Cup Song

Sippie Cup Song (no MP3 available)

I want some milk and I want it now
I want some milk and I’ll tell you how
I want some milk in a sippie cup
So mommy won’t you hurry up

I want to go see some friends of mine
So shake a leg and stop wasting time
I want some milk in a sippie cup
So mommy won’t you hurry up

Chorus:
Mommy get my sippie cup
It’s the noggin I love best
Purple and round and plastic
It’s better than the rest
When it comes to beverages
Milk’s the cream of the crop
So go get my sippie cup
And I’ll drink every drop

I’m a toddler, I’m not even two
But I’m growing old waiting for you
I want some milk in a sippie cup
So mommy won’t you hurry up

No ice water and no apple juice
If it’s not from a cow it’s not cool
I want some milk in a sippie cup
So mommy won’t you hurry up

Bridge:
Here she comes, with cup in hand
Aren’t mom’s great, and ain’t life grand
When my cup’s empty I can’t be denied
But when it runneth over, I’m satisfied

Chorus:
Mommy get my sippie cup
It’s the noggin I love best
Purple and round and plastic
It’s better than the rest
When it comes to beverages
Milk’s the cream of the crop
So go get my sippie cup
And I’ll drink every drop

Since Jessie Went Away

Since Jessie Went Away

This house is so damn quiet
You can hear a heart break
This silence is killing me
It’s more than I can take
I wish someone would yell
I wish someone would shout
Jessie won’t you come back home

Her clothes are in the closet
Her pillow’s on the bed
We all stare at each other
But not one word is said
I wish someone would yell
Just scream her name out loud
Oh Jessie where have you gone

Chorus:
Jessie’s with the angels
Way out in space
Where the milky way flows
Like the tears down my face
I cry some for Jessie
I cry some for me
Mostly I cry for the things
That never will be
Jessie’s with the angels
I haven’t seen one in days
Since Jessie went away

Sometimes I wake up at night
And I reach out for her
The empty space beside me
Serves as a reminder
That she is gone for good
That she ain’t coming back
You know she was my best friend

You can’t get it together
When you’re falling apart
I want to be strong for her
But that is pretty hard
When she is gone for good
And it’s a cold hard fact
I’ll never hold her again

Chorus:
Jessie’s with the angels
Way out in space
Where the milky way flows
Like the tears down my face
I cry some for Jessie
I cry some for me
Mostly I cry for the things
That never will be
Jessie’s with the angels
I haven’t seen one in days
Since Jessie went away

Bridge:
So I sit here
Listening to pins drop
I don’t know what is
But I know what’s not
I’m not doing so good
No I’m not OK
I miss Jessie
In a real big way

Chorus:
Jessie’s with the angels
Way out in space
Where the milky way flows
Like the tears down my face
I cry some for Jessie
I cry some for me
Mostly I cry for the things
That never will be
Jessie’s with the angels
I haven’t seen one in days
Since Jessie went away

Shut Up and Show Up

Shut Up and Show Up

I met an old cowboy up in Austin last year
He said I’ll share some wisdom
If you’ll lend me your ear
He said I’ve been a husband
And I’ve been a fool
But you can be both
If you’ll follow these rules

Chorus:
Just shut up and show up
Don’t get drunk and throw up
Don’t do all those things that you do all the time
Just show up and shut up
Don’t be rude or cut up
Show a little respect and she’ll treat you fine

If you’re go to a party and she will be there
Always put on a clean shirt
Run a comb through your hair
Don’t wear your old boots
To a French cafe
And take off your spurs
For a roll in the hay

Chorus:
Just shut up and show up
Don’t get drunk and throw up
Don’t do all those things that you do all the time
Just show up and shut up
Don’t be rude or cut up
Show a little respect and she’ll treat you fine

Always get there on time and remember to smile
Never chase other women
And don’t act like a child
You just let her lead you
Around by the hand
Nod at those big words
That you don’t understand

Chorus:
Just shut up and show up
Don’t get drunk and throw up
Don’t do all those things that you do all the time
Just show up and shut up
Don’t be rude or cut up
Show a little respect and she’ll treat you fine
