Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars

Sitting in our backyard
In the middle of the night
I can see the whole world
And out into space

It gets lonesome out here
When you’re so far away
But when I close my eyes
I still see your face

Shooting stars
And broken hearts

Move at the speed of light
Or stand perfectly still
Whichever path you take
A choice has been made

Even good intentions
Can get lost in the dark
It’s hard to know for sure
Until it’s too late

Shooting stars
And broken hearts

There goes a shooting star
That’s just how things are
But I can always wish
For something more than this

Shooting stars
And broken hearts
