Little White Lies
When I got home the other night
She asked me where I’d been
I told her I was hard at work
Though I’d been drinking again
I didn’t want to make her cry
By telling her the truth
So I told a little white lie
It seemed like the thing to do
Chorus:
Little white lies
That seem so harmless now
Can grow so big
Before you turn around
What they don’t know won’t hurt them
Or so they say
Tomorrow’s broken hearts
Are little white lies today
The other night when I came in
She was on the telephone
She said I’ll have to call you back
My husband just got home
I ask her who she’s talking to
She says it’s just a friend
I don’t know if that’s the truth
Or little white lies again
Chorus:
Little white lies
That seem so harmless now
Can grow so big
Before you turn around
What they don’t know won’t hurt them
Or so they say
Tomorrow’s broken hearts
Are little white lies today
Bridge:
It’s not to hard to tell
That something ain’t right
When you find yourself
Telling stories every night
