Honky Tonk Disguise
That pretty glow in the distance
Has my baby all turned around
She cut all the lights out on us
So she could see the lights of town
She puts a fancy new dress on
Almost every Saturday night
I don’t know where we went wrong
But I know that something ain’t right
Chorus:
I sit on the front porch in silence
And I hear that screen door slam
It’s raining memories in my front yard
Little bits and pieces of where I am
It’s so dark out there I can barely see
But there’s one thing I recognize
I see my baby all dressed up
In her honky tonk disguise
Sometime after I’ve gone to sleep
I’ll hear her come through the front door
She’s coming home but not to me
She doesn’t love me anymore
I’m not really sure why I stay
Something has got me paralyzed
But there’s no need to be afraid
It’s just a honky tonk disguise
Bridge:
So I lay and wait in the darkness
For the other shoe to fall
A lonesome sound in the darkness
From somewhere down the hall
Chorus:
I sit on the front porch in silence
And I hear that screen door slam
It’s raining memories in my front yard
Little bits and pieces of where I am
It’s so dark out there I can barely see
But there’s one thing I recognize
I see my baby all dressed up
In her honky tonk disguise
