Haunted House
Tonight when I get home from work
She’ll be waiting inside
Just like a ghost behind the door
Of some carnival ride
And while she goes through the motions
I’ll have to hold my breath
Cause watching her pretend she cares
Always scares me to death
Chorus:
It’s not some bloody scene
Like the movies on TV
Nothing like the horror books
I used to like to read
It’s nothing quite that simple
That makes me scream and shout
It’s that we’ve somehow lost our way
Inside this haunted house
We’ve had our share of ups and downs
Though we’ve been down a while
She could still drive my fears away
With one flash of her smile
But we’re stuck in a scary place
Both frozen in our tracks
I hope that I can find the strength
To get my baby back
Bridge:
I’m haunted by words of affection
That still echo in my ears
And by the memory of a tender touch
I haven’t felt in years
Chorus:
It’s not some bloody scene
Like the movies on TV
Nothing like the horror books
I used to like to read
It’s nothing quite that simple
That makes me scream and shout
It’s that we’ve somehow lost our way
Inside this haunted house
