Well it seems I only have two songs that begin with e, and the lucky winner is Eleven Zeros. Here’s the MP3:
This is a really old one that Ronnie and I co-wrote many years ago. It has a neat folk blues vibe that I like a lot.
Here’s all I can remember about this one:
1) The 11 zeros were years of a relationship of two people close to me that ended up going nowhere (e.g., around in circles- ergo the zero metaphor).
2) The adding up numbers and ending up with zero idea comes from the excellent line in Neil Young’s Powderfinger: “Red means run, son, numbers add up to nothin’.”
3) We had to do a ton of rewrites before we were satisfied with it. In fact, the lyrics on the lyrics page are from an earlier version. Most songs change titles, words and music a bunch before they are done (assuming they are ever done).
