Another song I cowrote with Joe Middleton. It’s about a woman I used to know who always knew where she was going. Never a doubt.
She grabs a hold of the car keys
Says it’s time to leave
I ask where we’re going
From the passenger seat
She shrugs off the question
And she steps on the gas
Are we going somewhere
Or just nowhere fast
Chorus:
She can’t seem to tell me
If it’s this way or that
Lord, my head is hurting
I think she lost her map
When we’re getting closer
She stops me on a dime
And she’s driving me
Out of my mind
One wrong turn at a time
We go out driving
On the outskirts of town
I’ve got so far to go
Before the sun goes down
She stares through the windshield
Waiting for a sign
The side of the road
Or in the back of her mind
Chorus:
She can’t seem to tell me
Is it this way or that
Lord, my head is hurting
I think she lost her map
When we’re getting closer
She stops me on a dime
And she’s driving me
Out of my mind
One wrong turn at a time
We pick up speed
She taps on the brakes
I’m trying to lean into
The turns that she takes
I’m scared of the left lane
And she likes to be right
Give me red, green or yellow
Just show me the light
