A song about a girl I met in Mexico a long time ago. I wanted to make some bad choices, but she was either too timid. Or too smart. Probably the latter.

I remember lying on that sandy beach
Down in old Mexico
Two that loved us back in our rooms
While we went out to smoke

We spent two weeks meeting every chance we got
The time passed much too fast
It’s always the things you want the most
That never seem to last

Chorus:
We came back to the states
With some hard choices to make
I can still hear her voice
And see the tears in her eyes
The night she came to say goodbye
She made her hobson’s choice

She said if she left him it would break his heart
Something she couldn’t do
I guess she thought if she ran fast enough
She could outrun the truth

The next day I came back here to Mexico
Ten years in Cozumel
Making souvenirs for all the tourists
Just more memories to sell

Chorus:
We came back to the states
With some hard choices to make
I can still hear her voice
And see the tears in her eyes
The night she came to say goodbye
She made her hobson’s choice

Bridge:
She wrote me a letter a few years back
A picture of her in a far away place
I didn’t have to look very hard
To see the sadness in her face

Chorus:
We came back to the states
With some hard choices to make
I can still hear her voice
And see the tears in her eyes
The night she came to say goodbye
She made her hobson’s choice
