I wrote this initially in 1999, when my sweet Cassidy was 1 year old. She’s been my Punkin Bear ever since. I demoed it in the early 2000s, and then updated it in 2024.
It’s gettin’ late I have to leave
The sweetest girl she waits for me
I’ll get in my truck and I’ll drive
Straight down Highway 45
I gotta go to Galveston
Lots of folks there and she is one
There’s a girl I’m going to see
My girl’s name is Cassidy
Chorus:
I’m the richest man on earth
Millionaires envy my net worth
I won something better than the lottery
I won the love of Cassidy
I’ve felt the strength of love before
But that don’t seem like love no more
I love my girl with all my might
I’m gonna see her tonight
My baby just turned one year old
Precious smile and a heart of gold
I keep her love right here with me
My daughter’s name is Cassidy
Chorus:
I’m the richest man on earth
Millionaires envy my net worth
I won something better than the lottery
I won the love of Cassidy
I won something better than the lottery
I won the love of Cassidy
For Cassidy
