Originally, I wrote “Carolina Angel” at my aunt’s request, using some words written by my deceased cousin. No one, including me, really vibed with the original song. So I rewrote it, to see if it’s a possible The Caution Children cut. If so, it will be thanks to the South of the Border line. Those who know, know.

Let me tell you bout a girl I know
We fell in together a good while ago
I say if you dig me
Then why don’t it show
She says I’m just needy
But I don’t think that’s so

Chorus:
She’s my Carolina devil
My Palmetto fiend
I’d like to say I got away
But I am unredeemed

So many times she has let me down
Out chasing trouble on the wrong side of town
Even when she’s at home
It feels like she’s leaving
She just stares at her phone
While my heart takes a beating

Chorus:
She’s my Carolina devil
My Palmetto fiend
I’d like to say I got away
But I am unredeemed

Been at the bottom right from the start
They don’t make Band-Aids for a broken heart
She’s also a hoarder
Got a million ashtrays
From South of the Border
I don’t think she’s OK

I like country but she’s rock and roll
Hit me with her best shot in my heart of gold
We don’t like the same food
And we drink different beer
I think she is just rude
But there’s one thing that’s clear

Bridge:
If I was a wiser man
With a big pile of cash
I’d pack my shit lickity split
And then I’d haul ass
